Monkeys are at play


This is the welcome we got when we reached the Tarangire national park Tanzania.The most common animals found in this park are the Abyssinian black and white colobus monkeys, the Vervet monkeys plus big five.
The largest of the five countries, Tanzania, is richest in primate species (27) and subspecies (28). Things to do and dont to monkeys *Do not irritate or tease the monkeys. Leave them alone and they will leave you alone. Be light footed while passing through a monkey group i.e. Do not run. *Staring at monkeys (and apes as well) is taken as a sign of aggressive intent. Monkeys will reach behind them for the nearest throwaway substance and you won't like it when they pelt you with it. You might almost say you would get skunked.
*Mothers are very protected towards their little ones .
*Female group together to bring up the babies *Firecrackers, gunshots, and other loud noises are good measures to scare off monkeys. big enemies are : Lions. Big cats like lions and tigers may prefer to feast on bigger prey like antelope, but they also catch monkeys. Tigers. Tigers are fond of stalking and catching unsuspecting monkeys. ... Leopards,Cheetahs,Jaguars,Ocelots,Hawks and Eagles, Harpy Eagles Are Monkey Predators.
